Maremma, light, and archaeological memory

Querciarossa

Between Magliano in Toscana and the Talamone coastline, Fattoria Querciarossa rises on a hill full of light, surrounded by vineyards and marked by the presence of two great oak trees. It is a place where the Maremma landscape meets a very ancient memory, from Bronze Age finds to the Etruscan and Roman traces that surface around the cellar.

A land shaped by history

The Querciarossa area has been inhabited since the earliest chapters of local history. Archaeological finds discovered here trace a timeline from the Bronze Age to the Rinaldone period, with the Archer’s Tomb located right beside the estate cellar. Near the vineyards, the Etruscans carved an entire necropolis into the limestone rock, leaving traces and paintings in vermilion red. The Romans also settled in this land: remains of a farm complex have been found, including a manor house and several other buildings. The latest discovery, perhaps the most fascinating, is the remains of an ancient vineyard dating back to the Etruscan period: a testimony that directly connects this land with vine growing.

Wine as continuity of place

A land so rich in history called for a natural continuation. This is where Fattoria Querciarossa was born, with its cellar and vineyards, in a landscape that keeps the dialogue between memory, light, and agricultural work alive. The wines produced at Querciarossa carry, through their names and structure, the history and strength of this territory, turning each label into a story rooted in Maremma and in its archaeological depth.
